87-Year-Old Diamond Springs Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash near Haylard Lane, Ricardo Rosas Arrested
DIAMOND SPRINGS, CA (October 10, 2018) – An elderly man was killed Wednesday morning following a hit-and-run crash on Missouri Flat Road. The victim was later identified as 87-year-old Gottfried George Brunner, a resident of Diamond Springs.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 6:30 AM near Haylard Lane. The pedestrian was crossing on Missouri Flat Rd when he was struck by a 2012 silver Dodge Caravan.
Brunner suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
Hours after the collision, two deputies spotted the suspect vehicle at a nearby gas station. They were also able to locate the driver, who was later identified as 45-year-old Ricardo Rosas. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and has been booked into the El Dorado County Jail.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify other possible contributing factors. No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
