1 Dead in San Mateo Crash on 3rd Avenue
SAN MATEO, CA (February 24, 2020) – A good samaritan was struck and killed while trying to help a driver involved in a collision.
The authorities revealed that the driver that struck the good samaritan fled from the scene on February 21.
The authorities received reports of the single-car collision at about 1:54 a.m. just before the 3rd Avenue exit in the SB-101 lanes.
A Scion crashed in the middles of the lanes. Officials said that a man in his late 20’s or early 30’s stopped to help that person. However, another oncoming car hit him. The man who tried to help died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Scion driver went to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The crash involved three to four cars. The authorities advised the public not to get out of their cars if a crash happens. Instead, stay inside and call 911.
All closed lanes of Highway 101 have since reopened after the crash investigation.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the relatives and friends of the good samaritan who passed in the crash on 3rd Avenue.
