Goliath Cortez Killed in Head-On Crash on 16th Street [Phoenix, AZ]

Phoenix, AZ (June 6, 2023) On Monday morning, a head-on crash on 16th Street killed 34-year-old Goliath Cortez and injured 2 others.

According to the Phoenix Police Department (PPD), the fatal 2-vehicle collision happened at about 4:30 a.m. at the intersection with Elwood Street.

Reports say that Cortez was driving a southbound vehicle that crossed over to the opposite lane and crashed head-on with a pickup truck. Cortez sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the pickup suffered minor injuries.

Officers are investigating the probable cause of the head-on crash.
