Violet Chance Johnson Wanted after Fatal Bicycle Collision near Dan Avenue
OLIVEHURST, CA (October 13, 2018) – A woman was killed Saturday evening following a bicycle crash on McGowan Parkway. The victim was later identified as 59-year-old Goldia Tombs, a resident of Olivehurst.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 8:00 PM near Dan Avenue. The bicyclist was on the left shoulder of McGowan when she was struck by a vehicle that was entering the intersection.
A second driver, unaware that the victim was lying in the roadway, struck the bicyclist. The impact critically injured Tombs, who was transported to Rideout Hospital for treatment and evaluation. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
The first driver, identified as 32-year-old Violet Chance Johnson of Olivehurst, fled the area and was last seen driving northbound on Evelyn Drive. Meanwhile, the second driver remained at the intersection and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a dark blue 2004 Ford Focus with license plate 7LES039. Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or the hit-and-run driver is asked to contact the CHP at (530) 674-5141. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
