Perris Man Fatally Struck by Car on 10 Freeway in Indio
INDIO, CA (September 22, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash Sunday evening in Indio, authorities said.
The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. on eastbound 10 Freeway, just west of Monroe Street exit near mile marker 54.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a male pedestrian was walking on the freeway when he was hit by a 2018 Nissan occupied by three people from San Tan Valley, Arizona.
Officers arrived and found the man in the center median along the eastbound lanes. The Nissan was parked along the right shoulder.
Paramedics attempted life-saving measures on the pedestrian, but he died at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as Glendon Robinson, 35, of Perris.
Meanwhile, the driver, a 71-year-old man, and his 65-year-old female passenger, sustained cuts to their heads from glass. The third passenger was unharmed.
Officers said there was no indication that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Further investigation is underway.
