Giselle and Hector Evangelista Killed in Crash on Patterson Road [Riverbank, CA]

2 Killed and 4 Injured in Head-On Collision near Langford Road

RIVERBANK, CA (August 7, 2018) – On Tuesday evening, a father and daughter were killed and four other people were injured in a head-on collision on Patterson Road.

The crash happened shortly before 7:20 PM, just west of Langford Road. 16-year-old Giselle Evangelista, and her father, 44-year-old Hector Evangelista, were traveling westbound in a 2000 Toyota at about 40 to 45 mph. An eastbound 2014 Dodge, containing a woman and three children, was going about the same speed before the collision occurred.

Based on the CHP report, Giselle crossed into the eastbound lane before swerving back into the correct lane. Becuase of this, the Toyota turned abruptly to the left, and re-entered the eastbound lane, directly into the path of the Dodge.

The driver of the Dodge, 32-year-old Marisela Wilkinson, was unable to react, and the vehicles crashed head-on. The impact pushed the Toyota backward and into a ditch full of cattle waste runoff. The Toyota then landed on the driver’s side which became submerged.

Witnesses attempted to rescue the Evangelistas, but were unable to because of the Toyota’s damage and position in the ditch. The 16-year-old girl and her father were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Wilkinson’s passengers were injured in the collision and taken by ambulance to the Memorial Medical Center in Modest: 11-year-old Kylie Wilksonson, 9-year-old Michael Wilkinson, and 6-year-old Alexa Wilkinson.

All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident. It is not yet confirmed if drugs or alcohol were involved in the fatal collision. No further details have been released at this time.
