1 Hospitalized in Yakima County Auto Accident on US Route 97 and Branch Road
YAKIMA COUNTY, WA (June 22, 2021) – Monday morning, a girl sustained injuries after a two-vehicle crash on US Route 97 and Branch Road.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at around 8:25 a.m. Moreover, it occurred at the intersection of US Route 97 and Branch Road.
Reports revealed that an eastbound 2007 Ford Explorer attempted to make a left turn towards the northbound lanes of U.S. 97 from Branch Road. Then, the Ford driver, a 17-year-old girl from Wapato failed to yield the right of way.
Furthermore, a northbound 2002 Volvo S80 traveling on State Route 97 crashed into the Ford at the intersection.
Moreover, responders transported the 17-year-old to Astria Toppenish Hospital for treatment. The teen will be facing charges for driving without a valid operator license and/or insurance and for failure to yield the right of way.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old driver of the Volvo will also be facing charges for not having a valid operator license and/or insurance.
Also, towing crews cleared both vehicles involved in the crash from the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
