Driver Killed and Passenger Injured in Single-Vehicle Wreck near Napa Valley Corporate Way
NAPA, CA (July 18, 2018) – A man was killed Wednesday afternoon and another was hospitalized following a solo-car crash near Napa Valley Corporate Way.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened at about 4:20 PM. A 2008 Chevrolet, driven by 30-year-old Vallejo resident Gilberto Hernandez Ortega, was traveling southbound on Highway 221 when it lost control.
The Chevy traveled off the west edge of the road and slammed into a utility pole. The impact fatally injured the driver, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 33-year-old Abner Bustamante, was transported to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center after sustaining minor injuries.
An investigation is ongoing to determine whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
