Gilberto Cazares Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on Holt Avenue [Pomona, CA]

Pomona, CA (October 15, 2022) – On Friday evening, 52-year-old Gilberto Cazares lost his life following a hit-and-run crash on Holt Avenue.

The traffic collision took place at about 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block area in front of Cardenas Market.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Holt Avenue in front of Cardenas Market.

Witnesses say a black sedan driven by a female driver was eastbound on Holt Avenue when it suddenly swerved into westbound lanes. Afterward, the vehicle jumped the curb and crashed into the crowded taco stand.

Unfortunately, Gilberto Cazares died at the crash scene.

“Initially, the driver ran away from the scene and our officers began searching for her,” says Pomona Police Department. “Approximately an hour and 15 minutes later the suspect turned herself in.”

Twelve people sustained injuries in the collision including three who suffered critical injuries.

Meanwhile, officers are investigating the cause of the collision in front of Cardenas Market.
