Gilbert Police Officer Tom Edgerton Hospitalized after DUI Crash on Loop 101 in Scottsdale, Driver Arrested
Scottsdale, AZ (June 27, 2021) – Early Sunday morning, an off-duty Gilbert police officer Sgt. Tom Edgerton sustained severe injuries after a rear-end hit-and-run crash on Loop-101 near the Talking Stick Way exit.
Subsequently, police arrested the at-fault driver for DUI and leaving the scene of a collision.
The crash in Scottsdale happened at around 1:30 a.m. on June 27.
Gilbert Police Department said Edgerton headed southbound on Loop-101 near the Talking Stick Way exit when he was reportedly rear-ended by a driver who immediately fled the scene.
EMS took the officer to HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center in critical condition but confirmed stable as of Sunday afternoon.
Moreover, police later located the suspect’s car and arrested the driver. The suspect’s name has not been released.
