Shefner Moore Arrested for DUI Crash That Left Brawley Man Gilbert Marquez Dead
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (June 27, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, Gilbert Marquez, 60, died in a head-on DUI crash on Highway 115.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 115 by Albright Road, at around 4:00 p.m.
Reports revealed that the two vehicles involved in the incident collided head-on.
Furthermore, officials confirmed the death of Brawley man Mr. Marquez, while claiming several people sustained injuries.
Moreover, the deadly crash closed both directions of Highway 115 between Albright and Rutherford Roads.
Upon further investigation, police discovered that a driver, identified as Shefner Larnell Moore, 54, drove intoxicated westbound on Albright, when he suddenly sideswiped Marquez’s work truck.
As a result, Gilbert’s Ford F-250 pickup rolled over, resulting in his fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, Moore’s 2012 Ford Fusion ended up in a dirt embankment.
When paramedics arrived, they airlifted the DUI driver to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Furthermore, upon release from the hospital Moore will be arrested.
The drunk driver is facing charges of felony driving under the influence causing injury or death, as well as and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Apparently, Shefner Moore has had five prior DUI convictions.
Marquez’s is survived by his three children, and he was his 88-year-old mother.
The authorities continue to investigate this fatal Highway 115 collision.
