1 Person Dead in Stanislaus County Bicycle Accident on Pine Street
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (August 25, 2024) – Friday morning, authorities arrested Gilbert Joseph Tavares after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Pine Street.
The incident happened at around 11:10 a.m. on the Pine Street overpass.
According to the Ceres Police Department, a black Jeep Wrangler or similar vehicle struck a bicyclist, and then fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.
Moreover, authorities confirmed that the bicyclist died in the crash.
Furthermore, authorities managed to locate and arrest the hit-and-run suspect, identified as 73-year-old Tavares, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run driving.
