48-Year-Old Pronounced Dead after Auto Accident in Livermore
LIVERMORE, CA (April 1, 2020) – Sunday evening, 48-year-old Gilbert Chang of Brentwood was killed, and 34-year-old Dustin Holland of Livermore, was injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Vasco Road.
Authorities received reports of the collision around 9:00 p.m. on North Vasco Road. Dispatchers arrived near the Republic Services Landfill.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash. Police identified a red 2018 Ducati motorcycle as well as a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer.
According to reports, Chang was driving his motorcycle north on Vasco Road. There, he veered across the double-yellow lines and into the southbound lanes where he struck Holland head-on in his Chevrolet.
The impact consequently ejected Chang from his motorcycle before he struck the Chevrolet’s windshield.
Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department later pronounced Chang dead at the scene due to the extent of his condition.
Meanwhile, Holland sustained serious injuries as a result of the impact. He was later transported to Eden Medical Center for further treatment.
In addition, authorities closed North Vasco Road for several hours during the clearing operation. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
The investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released.
