Man Dies after Vehicle Hits Light Pole Following Crash on Gilbert and Chandler Heights Roads

Chandler, AZ (July 31, 2021) – A crash on Gilbert and Chandler Heights Roads left one man dead and a woman injured on Thursday night.

The crash occurred on July 29 near Gilbert and Chandler Heights Roads shortly after 6:30 p.m.

According to the police, the vehicle involved was driving north on Gilbert Road and reportedly swerved towards the east. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a traffic light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. 

Then, the vehicle also collided with another vehicle before it came to rest. 

Officers confirmed that there were at least two people inside the vehicle. Due to the impact of the collision, the male passenger, in his 20s died at a hospital. The female driver in her 20s was hospitalized after sustaining injuries from the crash. However, there has been no update regarding her current condition. 

Meanwhile, occupants in the second vehicle involved did not report any injuries. 

Officers said in the release that the collision might have been influenced by speed and impairment. The investigation remains ongoing.

Furthermore, authorities have not arrested anyone as of today.
