1 Person Killed in Grass Valley DUI Accident on Brunswick Road and Highway 174

GRASS VALLEY, CA (March 29, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, authorities arrested Gerald Nelson after a fatal crash on Brunswick Road and Highway 174.

The incident happened at around 3:10 p.m. on Brunswick Road and Highway 174.

According to reports, a Dodge 2500 pickup failed to negotiate a curve. Afterward, it crossed the double yellow lines and broadsided a Mercedes. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Dodge to crash into a metal pole and a street sign on the south side of the road.

Moreover, responding firefighters rushed to the scene and extricated an 80-year-old occupant of the Mercedes trapped inside the wreckage. Then, paramedics performed life-saving measures on the victim to no avail. Authorities confirmed that the elderly woman died at the scene.

Furthermore, officers arrested the Dodge driver, 81-year-old Gerald Nelson on suspicion of DUI.

Meanwhile, the deadly incident remained under active investigation.
