George Shufelt Killed on State Route 20 Motorcycle Accident

Skagit County, WA (August 25, 2020) – On Sunday, the 33-year old George Shufelt of Bellingham died in a motorcycle crash on Eastbound State Route 20.

The fatal motorcycle crash took place at around 11:19 a.m. on August 23rd near milepost 146.

A press memo from the Washington State Patrol said Shufelt was traveling Eastbound on State Route 20 at a fast speed on a black 2016 Yamaha FZ09 Motorcycle.

He crossed the centerline of the highway into oncoming vehicles where he hit a maroon 2012 Dodge Ram Pickup that was pulling a 2018 Artic Trailer.

Shufelt and his motorcycle rested in an embankment while the driver of the truck and trailer pulled to the shoulder.

Shufelt sustained injuries from the crash. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

Furthermore, troopers said Shufelt was wearing a USDOT Compliant helmet. Also, drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. The possible cause of the collision was listed as speed and crossing the centerline.

The authorities completely notified the victim’s kin on the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, the pickup driver, identified as 55-year old Kirk Rowan of Mount Vernon and his passenger, Gail Rowan, also of Mount Vernon did not get seriously injured. They were both wearing seatbelts.
