Jose Arriega-Partida Arrest for DUI Hit-and-Run Accident on 165 Freeway near Echo Street
HILMAR, CA (March 6, 2018) – A Turlock man is facing criminal charges after a DUI car accident on Highway 165 near Echo Street, around 5 AM on Tuesday morning.
According to CHP Officer Eric Zuniga, 34-year-old Jose Arriega-Partida of Turlock was driving in a 2007 Lexus northbound on the 165 freeway behind another car. He attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him by maneuvering to the left, and crashed into a 2003 Nissan Frontier that was making a left turn onto Echo St.
Arriega-Partida fled from the scene of the accident, but was tracked by authorities back to his residence. Police officials took him back to the crash site and determined the man to be under the influence of alcohol.
Nissan driver, 55-year-old George Corales of Hilmar was injured and complained of pains, but decided to go to his own medical treatment. Arriega-Partida sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock for treatment.
After his release, he was booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of felony driving under the influence and hit and run. His remains in custody with a bail amount of $210,000.
