60-Year-Old George Cooper Dies in Hit-And-Run Crash on Jackrabbit Trail in Buckeye
Buckeye, AZ (May 23, 2022) – Saturday morning, 60-year-old George Cooper died in a hit-and-run crash on Jackrabbit Trail.
Subsequently, police arrested Fernando Ramos who is currently facing a manslaughter charge and a charge of hit-and-run resulting in death or injury.
The fatal hit-and-run crash in Buckeye happened on May 21, near Beloit Road.
Buckeye Police said Ramos was driving his Chevrolet truck on Jackrabbit Trail near Beloit Road when he crashed into a bicyclist, dragged him along the road, and ran over him before fleeing.
The bicyclist was biking in the northeastern lane with a small trailer when he was hit. The victim, Cooper died at the crash scene.
Police believe Ramos was speeding when the crash happened.
