Joshua Daniel Valenzuela and Fernando Amado Armendariz Arrested after Fatal Crash on El Mirage Road in Sun City West
Sun City West, AZ (March 25, 2022) – Police arrested Joshua Daniel Valenzuela and Fernando Amado Armendariz after a fatal crash that happened last November that killed 85-year-old Gary Woodworth.
Reportedly, 18-year-old Armendariz drove south on El Mirage Road at 110 miles per hour in a blue Hyundai Elantra when he crashed into a red Chevrolet pickup truck.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Valenzuela drove a vehicle south on El Mirage Road in the adjacent lane, going approximately 86 miles per hour.
The gray Audi ended up colliding with the blue Hyundai after it had hit the pickup truck.
As a result, the pickup truck driver, Woodworth sustained critical injuries and died at the hospital the next day.
Valenzuela and Armendariz admitted that they had been driving over the speed limit, but showed no signs of impairment.
Currently, both men are booked into a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office facility facing one count of reckless manslaughter and one count of serious injury to the teenager in Valenzuela’s vehicle.
