9-Year-Old Boy of Kern County Community Dies in 14 Freeway Crash Involving Gary Foster
Palmdale, CA (April 07, 2021) – On Monday, 56-year-old Gary Foster of Los Angeles was involved in a crash that killed a 9-year-old boy from Kern County Community on the 14 Freeway.
The fatal solo-vehicle accident took place at about 10:50 p.m. north of Avenue N.
Apparently, Foster was driving a 2008 Kia Spectra when he swerved into the center divider and tried to reenter the freeway at approximately 65 mph.
Unfortunately, he lost control and the vehicle went across all lanes of traffic. The vehicle struck a dirt embankment and overturned.
The 9-year-old boy was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities withheld his identity, pending notification of his next of kin.
On the other hand, Foster sustained minor injuries from the incident.
Moreover, a 28-year-old female passenger of California City sustained moderate injuries, while a 1-year-old boy and a 1-month-old boy in the car, also from California City, both incurred minor injuries.
Officers do not consider alcohol or drugs to be factors in the accident.
Meanwhile, authorities closed several northbound lanes of the freeway and a freeway on-ramp for nearly six hours. They reopened them at about 4:30 A.M.
