Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 17 near Glendale Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (October 5, 2019) – Authorities identified 52-year-old Gary Danahy of Phoenix as the man killed in a pedestrian accident on Interstate 17, Saturday evening.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident happened at about 7:30 PM. Due to unknown reasons, Danahy was walking south in the northbound lanes. There, a vehicle struck him near the Glendale Avenue exit.
Emergency responders pronounced Danahy dead at the scene. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not the driver of the vehicle remained to cooperate.
DPS continues to investigate the reason of the fatal accident. Investigators encourage witnesses to cooperate and reach out as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
