Major Injuries Sustained in Bicycle Crash near West Dry Creek Road
HEALDSBURG, CA (August 15, 2019) – A suspected hit-and-run car on Westside Road struck and injured Gary Begley, a bicyclist, late Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near West Dry Creek Road at approximately 5:45 PM. Based on a report, the 61-year-old Healdsburg man was struck by an unidentified vehicle that left the scene after the incident.
The paramedics took him to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He sustained severe injuries, including multiple skull fractures, broken ribs that punctured his kidneys and a broken shoulder. Surgery was also required to remove blood from his brain.
Police continue to investigate to identify and locate the hit-and-run suspect. No other details were released at this time.
