24-Year-Old Lake Elsinore Man Killed in Crash near Cambern Avenue
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (August 12, 2018) – A man was killed late Sunday evening, following a hit-and-run crash on Highway 74. The deceased victim was later identified as 24-year-old Lake Elsinore resident, Gardell Cowart II.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 11:30 PM in the area of Cambern Avenue. Cowart was walking near the intersection when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. Meanwhile, the driver involved in the collision left the scene before deputies and emergency crews arrived. A description of the hit-and-run vehicle annd driver were not immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Lake Elsinore sheriff’s station at (951) 245-3300. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
