41-Year-Old Woman Dies After 3-Vehicle Crash on Newport Road
Menifee, CA (October 2, 2022) On Tuesday afternoon, 41-year-old Gabriel Derian of Menifee was arrested after a 3-vehicle DUI crash on Berea Road.
Menifee Police Department say that the fatal DUI accident happened at around 3 p.m. at the intersection with Newport Road.
Reports say that a westbound Ford broadsided a BMW SUV and impacting a Chrysler sedan at the intersection.
Furthermore, Derian ignored a red traffic signal and drove straight into the crossing. Meanwhile, the BMW driver entered the interstation on a green light.
Rescuers found the woman trapped under wreck with serious injuries. Officers provided CPR to the woman until Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived.
Firefighter extricated the trapped woman. Afterward, medics transported her to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and died on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Derain suffered major injuries and paramedics transported him to a hospital. Authorities informed Gabriel Derian that he is under arrest on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI and DUI resulting in great bodily injury.
Additionally, the 55-year-old Menifee woman on the Chrysler sustained minor injuries, medics transported her to a hospital and was treated and released afterward.
Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not released additional information about the fatal 3-vehicle crash on Newport Road.
