Gary and Fukuko Beck Hurt in Horrific 2-Car Crash on SR 97 [Chelan, WA]

Chelan, WA (November 11, 2024) On Saturday afternoon, 71-year-old Gary Beck and his 78-year-old wife, Fukuko Beck both of Wenatchee were hurt after a suspected DUI crash on State Route 97.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the horrific crash happened at about 3 p.m. on northbound SR 97.

Reports say that the suspected DUI crash near Wells Dam left the elderly couple injured.

Authorities say that 34-year-old Andres Perez of Bridgeport was driving northbound on SR 97 when he crossed the center line and collided with a vehicle driven by Beck.

Both vehicles came to rest, fully blocking the highway. Beck, a longtime Christian pastor and law enforcement chaplain, sustained injuries along with his wife, who was a passenger. The couple received treatment at Lake Chelan Community Hospital.

WSP says Perez was under the influence at the time of the crash. All individuals involved were reportedly wearing seatbelts. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
