Valentin Uribe Involved in Rear-End Crash on North El Capitan Avenue in Fresno

Fresno, CA (December 23, 2021) – Thursday evening, a Fresno police officer sustained injuries in a rear-end crash on North El Capitan Avenue and Shaw Avenue.

The rear-end crash in Fresno happened at around 8:47 p.m. on December 23.

 Fresno Police said the officer was blocking the No. 3 lane in the westbound direction on West Shaw for a large pothole that had caused “several flat tires”.

The officer then waited for city workers to fill the pothole when a driver traveling in the westbound direction rear-ended the officer, who seated in the vehicle. 

As a result,  the officer sustained moderate injuries and transported to a hospital for a complaint of pain and a slight limp.

It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collision. But the driver, identified as 32-year-old Valentin Uribe, had a prior DUI conviction in May and was also driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Further investigation is ongoing.
