Driver Dead and Passenger Injured after Car Crashes into Orange Trees near Avenue 308
TULARE COUNTY, CA (March 17, 2019) – A solo-vehicle crash on Road 220 claimed the life of a 26-year-old Fresno man, early Sunday morning. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the victim.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly after midnight. Due to unknown circumstances, a 2000 Chevrolet lost control near Avenue 308 and veered off the road. The vehicle overturned multiple times before slamming into several orange trees.
The impact of the collision ejected the driver from the vehicle, causing serious injuries. Emergency responders pronounced the driver, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, an ambulance transported a 22-year-old female passenger to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with major injuries.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
