Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatal Crash on Highway 180 in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (March 4, 2019) – Two people were killed following a wrong-way, head-on crash late Monday evening in Fresno.
The fatal crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. on westbound Highway 180 at North Hayes Avenue.
According to the CHP, a Mercedes-Benz, driven by a 23-year-old man, was traveling the wrong way on Highway 180 when it collided head-on with a Honda car, driven by a 22-year-old woman.
Both drivers were killed in the crash. Their identities were not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
The highway was closed for several hours while officers and crews worked on the scene.
Authorities believe that drugs may have been a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
