Brooke Limas, Christy Limas One Other Dead in Suspected DUI Accident near Stevenson Boulevard
FREMONT, CA (May 15, 2018) – On Tuesday night around 9:30 PM, a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 880 took place near Stevenson Boulevard.
Three people were killed in the accident, including a mother and two children. The names of the children were released by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office as 9-year-old Brooke Limas and 14-year-old Christy Limas. The woman’s identity has not yet been disclosed.
The deceased victims were all riding in a Cadillac Escalade, when they were ejected from the impact of the crash. Five other people were injured, including a baby that is in critical condition.
21-year-old Dang Nguyen Hai Tran of San Jose was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana, and allegedly causing the fatal accident. He was driving in a white Toyota Camry, and was not injured in the collision. He was reportedly driving recklessly and at high speeds and is facing charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
All lanes of the northbound I-880 was closed overnight from Auto Mall Parkway to Stevenson Blvd, and reopened after 6 AM. There are no additional details on the events leading up to the crash, as authorities investigate.
