Motorcycle and Jeep Collide on Highway 101 at Willow Road Killing the Rider
EAST PALO ALTO, CA (April 20, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a traffic collision early Saturday morning on northbound Highway 101 in San Mateo County.
The fatal collision happened around 3:25 a.m., just South of Willow Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle collided with a 2014 Jeep, causing major damage on both the bike and SUV.
The rider, identified as a 34-year-old Fredrick Mahoni of East Palo Alto, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jeep driver, 35-year-old San Jose man, was not injured. He cooperated with authorities and was not found to be intoxicated.
All northbound lanes of Highway 101 were shut down for about an hour, according to CHP. Two lanes remained closed for another three hours after that.
Investigation of this incident is still ongoing.
