Injuries Reported in Petaluma Vehicle Crash on 1500 E Washington Street
PETALUMA, CA (May 21, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, Frank Powers Monachello was arrested in a startling auto accident on 1500 E Washington Street.
The incident at around 1:17 a.m. on the 1500 block of East Washington Street.
Monachello, after fleeing the scene of the accident, was apprehended when he jumped over a fence into a backyard in the area. He was later found in a creek at East Washington Street and Maria Drive and arrested without resistance.
The other vehicle involved in the crash contained two women in their 50s from Petaluma, both of whom sustained minor injuries. Police suspect that Monachello was driving recklessly and at an excessive speed when he rear-ended their car.
The suspect exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication, and a subsequent police investigation confirmed that he was driving under the influence. As a result, he was arrested for DUI (felony), hit-and-run (felony), reckless driving (misdemeanor), and resisting/obstructing a police officer (misdemeanor).
