75-Year-Old Frank Johnson Dead After Crash on East Fort Lowell Road in Tucson
Tucson, AZ (April 29, 2024) – On Thursday, 75-year-old Frank Johnson died in a crash on East Fort Lowell Road.
Reportedly, a Nissan Altima struck and killed a 75-year-old cyclist in Midtown on Thursday.
Frank Johnson was riding his bicycle on the north side of East Fort Lowell Road, near North Treat Avenue, when he attempted to cross the street, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.
While heading west on Fort Lowell, the Altima collided with Johnson as he tried to cross, the news release stated.
The Altima’s driver stopped after the crash and cooperated with law enforcement.
Tucson Police determined that the driver was not impaired during the crash.
Emergency responders transported Johnson to Banner University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, according to the news release.
The intersection near East Fort Lowell Road and North Treat Avenue is equipped with a marked crosswalk and a High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk signal, which was not activated at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
