Fatal 3-Car Crash at Newport and Menifee Roads
MENIFEE, CA (May 25, 2019) – A man was killed following a three-car crash Saturday morning in Menifee, authorities said.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as a 63-year-old Frank Dominguez of Menifee.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Newport Road and Menifee Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a burgundy Honda Crosstour was traveling westbound on Newport Road at a high rate of speed, when it struck a dark-colored Dodge Charger. The Honda lost control from the impact and went through the intersection of Newport and Menifee roads.
The Honda then struck a red BMW coupe, driven by Dominguez. Dominguez was waiting to make a westbound turn onto Newport from Menifee.
Dominguez was pronounced dead at the scene within minutes of the crash.
The Honda driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Charger was unharmed.
Crash debris and parts of a destroyed traffic signal and pole were strewn throughout the intersection and amidst the wrecked vehicles, leaving several lanes blocked and impassable.
The incident remains under investigation.
