Francisco Lopez Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Avenue 416 [Orosi, CA]

Orosi, CA (August 18, 2021) – On August 15, 47-year-old Francisco Lopez of Orosi suffered injuries in a pedestrian crash on Avenue 416 involving 64-year-old Ruel Baniaga, also from Orosi.

Officers said the accident took place at about 8:30 p.m. east of Road 125.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that Orosi was trying to walk northbound across the avenue. 

At the same time, Baniaga in an eastbound 1997 Nissan was in the Number 2 lane at approximately 20 mph.

For reasons still under investigation, Lopez entered the roadway and walked northbound directly into the path of Baniaga’s vehicle.

As a result, the Nissan’s front struck Lopez, causing him to fall to the roadway. 

Right away, responding officers took Lopez to  Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Baniaga, on the other hand, stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the investigation.
