Reckless Driver Crashes U-Haul Truck into Patrol Car near North California Boulevard
WALNUT CREEK, CA (January 15, 2019) – A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he crashed a rental truck into an unoccupied patrol car. The driver was later identified as 46-year-old Francisco Lima. His city of residence was not immediately disclosed.
According to the Walnut Creek Police Department, the incident happened in the 1800 block of Lacassie Avenue, at about 2:57 AM. A U-Haul rental truck, driven by Lima, hit a parked patrol car before heading north through Buskirk Avenue.
Walnut Creek officers chased the driver for approximately three hours before he got out of the truck at about 8:06 AM. No injuries were reported by the authorities.
Lima was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility, where he was charged for attempted assault with a deadly weapon and driving recklessly while evading a police officer. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
