Impaired Driver Crashes into Parked Vehicles near Mitchell Avenue
ATWATER, CA (September 22, 2018) – A man was arrested Saturday evening following a suspected DUI Crash near Mitchell Avenue.
According to the Atwater Police Department, the incident took place shortly after 9:00 PM in the 1400 block of North Winton Way. 34-year-old Francisco Garibay-Rios of Atwater struck three parked cars in the area, causing his vehicle to lose control and roll over.
Garibay-Rios sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and medical evaluation. There is no update on his current medical condition. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
The driver was later arrested after it was determined that he had been driving under the influence at the time of the crash. Investigators also noted that Garibay-Rios has an extensive history with DUIs. As per jail records, the suspect has been arrested several times on DUI charges since 2009.
An investigation is ongoing to confirm the cause of the crash and to identify other possible contributing factors. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
