44-Year-Old Francisco Garcia-Vargas Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on Orangethorpe Avenue [Orange County, CA]

Orange County, CA (June 13, 2024) – 44-year-old Francisco Garcia-Vargas was arrested in a fatal DUI crash on Orangethorpe Avenue Wednesday night.

The authorities responded at 9:45 p.m. to the crash scene on Gilbert Street and discovered that a 1999 BMW 323i had crashed into a black 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Responding officers located the rider east of the intersection and declared them dead at the scene.

Troopers said the victim was stopped at a red light on Orangethorpe Avenue when the BMW traveling in the same lane failed to stop at the red light.

As a result, the BMW driven by Garcia-Vargas rear-ended the motorcycle and ejected the rider.

Garcia-Vargas continued eastbound on Orangethorpe Avenue with the Harley Davidson wedged underneath the front of his BMW.

Those who witnessed the collision detained Garcia-Vargas until the authorities arrived at the scene.

The authorities arrested Garcia-Vargas on suspicion of driving without a license, felony driving under the influence, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
