SMITH COUNTY, TX (March 19, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a four-wheel handicap scooter crash on Loop 323 hurt a man.

According to Batallion Chief Brian Fairchild, a pickup truck hit a man driving a four-wheel handicap scooter at about 3:55 p.m. Moreover, it happened on Loop 323.

Meanwhile, officers confirmed that a dog traveled with the male scooter rider.

Also, Fairchild confirmed that the man is expected to be OK. Meanwhile, the dog suffered no injuries in the crash.

After the collision, responders transported the man to a Tyler hospital

Officers confirmed that they found a crushed scooter and gloves, a lighter, a tool box and a bottle of tea scattered on the ground.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
