Four Dead after Silverado Motorcycle Crash on Santiago Canyon Road
SILVERADO, CA (July 8, 2019) – Four people died after a motorcycle collision on Santiago Canyon Road in Silverado on Sunday, July 7.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the area of Santiago Canyon Road and Modjeska Canyon Road at around 4:35 p.m.
Two motorcycles — each carrying a driver and passenger — crashed and left four people dead. The victims included two men and two women.
CHP Officer Florentino Olivera stated that a woman and a man were on each of the motorcycles. They all died at the scene.
According to Olivera, the motorcycle traveled northbound on Santiago Canyon Road. The motorcyclist tried to overtake another vehicle going northbound. This caused a head-on collision into another motorcycle going southbound.
Investigators believe that the motorcycle that caused the incident was speeding at the time.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victims. However, the CHP officials said they all looked like they are in their mid-30s to mid-40s.
Officials shut down Santiago Canyon Road in both directions at Hicks Road for a few hours during the investigation.
