Solo-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 182 Injures Children

Pasco, WA (November 12, 2021)– On Thursday, four people including children suffered injuries in a solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 182.

The traffic incident happened at 12:28 a.m. when a 17-year-old driver from Mattawa failed to negotiate the curve and struck a guardrail.

The emergency team transported the four injured people to an area hospital. Three of them are children aged 7, 9, and 15 years old.

Luckily, the driver did not suffer injuries in the incident.

Investigators said the teen driver was too fast for the conditions, and now faces charges for negligent driving.

Always pay attention whenever you are on the road. Do your best to avoid accidents. Also, make sure that you are following the correct driving speed.

Injured in Crash

Despite the additional safety features on newer vehicle models, crash rates in Washington continue to increase, rather than decrease.

As a matter of fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), two out of three motorists will be injured in a traffic accident during their life.

Sad but true, auto accidents are a major public health threat. They are a leading cause of death for individuals ages 5-64.

That is why it is valuable to know what to do if you get involved in a motor vehicle accident.

Meanwhile, here are some of the things that we can do to practice defensive driving and avoid accidents:

-First, always drive at a controllable speed.

-Then, it is also important not to assume you know the other driver’s intention.

– Also, be prepared to positively react to other drivers.

-This one, we should never neglect. Yield at intersections, even if you have right of way.

– Most importantly, stay focused on the road. Removing all distractions such as mobile phone use, unstrapped toddlers, can help us focus on the road.
