YUBA COUNTY, CA (December 24, 2018) – Four people were injured in a DUI accident on North Beale Road, late Monday night. The identities of the victims have not yet been released to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:00 PM near Highway 70.
Officials stated that police tried to pull over 20-year-old driver Shania Teasley from Linda, when she led a deputy on a one mile chase before the collision. Teasley then exited Highway 70, turning east on North Beale Road when she rammed into a SUV who was also turning east. Due to the impact, it caused the SUV to strike a pole.
First responders arrived at the scene of the accident and transported four of the seven occupants to a nearby hospital. Two victims were minors, ages 8 and 14, who were life-flighted to a Sacramento-area hospital with serious injuries. Their current medical conditions are unclear at this time. Officers stated that not all passengers were wearing seatbelts.
Authorities apprehended Teasley, who was not injured and was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI with injury and evading arrest. No further details have been disclosed to the public, as the investigation continues.
