Historic Route 66 Head-On Crash Kills Driver

Cajon Pass, CA (December 02, 2021) – On November 29, a female driver lost her life in a Historic Route 66 head-on crash.

The fatal crash happened at about 2:50 p.m. south of Keenbrook Road.

Investigators said a blue Chrysler 200 was northbound when it crossed over the double yellow lines and into opposing traffic. Reports said the vehicle was attempting to pass slower-moving traffic in front of him.

“A Ford Escape was traveling southbound on Cajon Boulevard when the solo female driver was struck head-on by the Chrysler and traveled off the road to the right into a ditch,” stated CHP officer Ivan Sandoval.

Afterward, the Chrysler struck a Ford that was stopped in the northbound lanes due to heavy traffic.

Unfortunately, the Ford’s female driver was trapped in the vehicle. Responding officers immediately freed and rushed her to a hospital.

“The female was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to injuries. There were no signs of impairment of any of the drivers,” stated Sandoval.

Meanwhile, the authorities withheld the woman’s identity pending the notification of next of kin.
