FONTANA, CA – Two Hospitalized after Pedestrian Collision on Sierra Avenue

Omni-Trans Bus Struck and Injured Pedestrian at Sierra Avenue and Upland Avenue

 
FONTANA, CA (May 7, 2018) – A man was struck by a bus and sustained life-threatening injuries in a pedestrian collision on Sierra Avenue, late Monday afternoon.
 
Fontana Police responded to a road accident in the area of Sierra and Upland Avenues, at around 4:24 PM. A male pedestrian was struck by an Omnitrans Bus, according to officials. His identity has not yet been released to the public.
 
The Omni-Trans bus was southbound on Sierra Avenue when a man ran out in its path. The bus had passengers at the time of the crash but the number has not been confirmed.
 
A passenger on the bus was brought to the hospital after complaining of suffering minor injuries when the bus came to a sudden stop. The victim who was struck by the bus suffered life-threatening injuries, but no further details on his condition was immediately disclosed.
 
The Omnitrans driver will undergo drug testing as required by the agency’s guidelines, according to officials.
 
Southbound Sierra Avenue was blocked off between Upland and Seville Avenues, while police were investigating the crash. The road was expected to be closed until around 9:00 PM. Officials have not released the names of any of the parties involved, and no further details were immediately available.
