Florentino Jacinto Santos Dies in Tragic Rollover Crash on SR 240 [Benton County, WA]

Benton County, WA (November 21, 2023) On Saturday morning, 30-year-old Florentino Jacinto Santos of Mattawa died and a 22-year-old Beverly man was hurt in a tragic rollover crash on SR240.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on State Route 240 about 17 miles west of Richland.

Reports say that the 22-year-old man from Beverly was driving a westbound vehicle that went off road and rolled over multiple times. Santos was a passenger in the vehicle and was ejected off the vehicle.

Officials say that Santos died at the scene, he was not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Another passenger on the vehicle, a 33-year-old man from Beverly, was not hurt.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old driver was hurt and was transported to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating the fatal solo-vehicle crash and they believe drugs and/or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
