Florencio Lagara-Perez Dies in Highway 101 Rollover Crash [Goleta, CA]

Goleta, CA (May 24, 2023) On Tuesday morning, 55-year-old Florencio Lagara-Perez of Santa Barbara died in a rollover crash on Highway 101.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), 64-year-old Pedro Contreras Santa Barbara suffered injuries from the fatal vehicle crash on Fairview Avenue Onramp to northbound Highway 101.

Reports say that the rollover crash happened at about 5:15 a.m. Officials say that Contreras was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger, as the vehicle was entering the onramp, the Ford spun out and rolled over ending on its roof about 100 feet off the roadway in a field.

Officials say that Contreras sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Meanwhile, Lagara-Perez, who was a passenger in the Ford, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Authorities are investigating the probable cause of the rollover crash.
