Sary Tuy Arrested in Fatal DUI Pedestrian Crash at Carmenita and Lakeland Roads
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (April 14, 2019) – A man was killed following a DUI pedestrian crash early Sunday in Santa Fe Springs County.
The fatal crash was first reported at 12:29 a.m. along Carmenita Road. In addition, California Highway Patrol stated the accident happened south of Lakeland Road.
30-year-old Florencio Alonso Jr. of Whittier was walking eastbound across the roadway. After that, he was struck by a southbound 2007 Toyota on Carmenita Road.
Alonso Jr. suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Toyota driver, 36-year-old Sary Tuy of Norwalk, was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving.
Tuy posted $100,000 bail and was released from custody Sunday afternoon. However, he is pending his initial court appearance, Los Angeles County booking records show.
