Five Injured in State Route 97 Rollover Collision [Chelan, WA]

Chelan, WA (August 14, 2023) – On August 12, five people sustained injuries following a State Route 97 rollover collision.

The hit-and-run crash took place at about 4 a.m. near milepost 230.

A southbound 2001 Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old man  crossed over the center lane of traffic onto the northbound shoulder. As the driver attempted to drive back onto the road, the vehicle struck an oncoming vehicle.

As a result, the Honda Civic was pushed into a ditch while the other vehicle was totaled in the center of the north and southbound lanes.

Washington State troopers immediately responded to the scene and transported five people a the hospital.

WSP arrested the Honda Civic driver with charges on vehicular assault and hit-and-run.

Investigating officers believe that drugs or alcohol were involved though the authorities are still investigating.
