Carjacked Pickup Truck Involved in Major Accident on 68th Street
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (August 16, 2019) – Five people sustained injuries in a multi-car accident on 68th Street on Friday afternoon.
According to the Police, the collision happened near McDowell Road at approximately 12:50 PM. Based on a report, a pickup truck refused to stop for Tempe officers after a shoplifting incident and a carjacking. The patrol officer followed the vehicle and observed that an occupant attempted to push the owner out of the moving truck. While swerving, the truck then struck an SUV. Three other cars were also hit during the crash.
Paramedics took five people to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. One of the victims is identified as a woman, the driver of the SUV, who suffered serious injuries in the crash.
A man and a woman ran from the pickup truck. An officer who saw them get into another vehicle arrested both of them. It’s not clear what charges the two suspects will face. The authorities are still investigating the case.
