MCLENNAN, COUNTY, TX (March 29, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a firefighter perishes after a deadly crash on Interstate 35 near Mile Marker 354.

The incident happened at around 12:57 p.m. on northbound Interstate 35 near Mile Marker 354.

According to reports, a Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer disregarded traffic control devices and struck a firefighter, a fire truck, and two patrol units. Also, authorities confirmed that the firefighter and the troopers were assisting with a vehicle fire when the incident happened.

Moreover, responders rushed the firefighter to Baylor Scott and White where the patient was later pronounced dead. Then, paramedics transported two troopers to Baylor Scott and White with unknown injuries.

Furthermore, the incident delayed traffic for at least three hours. All lanes have long since reopened.

Meanwhile, the fatal crash remained under active investigation.
