Fiery Traffic Crash on Interstate 5 Injures 2 People [Tukwila, WA]

Tukwila, WA (October 4, 2024) On Wednesday morning, 2 people were hurt after a fiery traffic crash on Interstate 5.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the disastrous crash happened on southbound Interstate 5 early Wednesday morning.

Reports say that 2 people were hospitalized after a speeding Chevrolet Malibu crashed through a guardrail and landed vertically in an embankment near South Boeing Access Road in Tukwila.

Officials say that the driver, suspected to be impaired, lost control while exiting southbound Interstate 5, overcorrected, and crashed into bushes on the embankment.

Traffic cameras captured the vehicle bursting into flames, with footage showing both occupants crawling to safety.

The driver, a 28-year-old Tacoma man, was not wearing a seatbelt, while the passenger, a 22-year-old Seattle woman, was buckled.

Both were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

WSP Trooper Rick Johnson confirmed that firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the scene was cleared once a tow truck removed the vehicle.
